Registration... |
|
Kaponomana
canines are registered in both AKC (American Kennel Club) and UKC
(United Kennel Club).
…Companion
puppies are initially registered with limited registration, baring them
only from conformation competition and the ability to register puppies
produced by them. Limited registration allows participation in all
working competition. Should it later be desired to participate in
conformation competition, lifting of the limited registration may be
authorized.
Kaponomana may authorize transfer to full registration after
these three qualifications are met. Kaponomana does reserve the right to
withhold authorization of the registration status change.
Kaponomana
requirements for changing limited to full registration:
-
Hips
screened and certified by OFA, Penn Hip or other qualified systems .
-
Re-evaluation
by Kaponomana of structure, condition and temperament of the
prospect canine.
-
Reviewed
and committed to breeding guidelines written by Kaponomana.
Kaponomana does not encourage breeding of just any full registered
dog. There is much that is involved in keeping, or more importantly,
improving this beautifully versatile breed. This requirement is
included as a qualification because a full registration allows not
only the ability to compete in conformation but also opens the
ability to register litters produced by this canine.
Kaponomana
strongly stresses the significance, intricacy and extreme responsibility
required when breeding, for the lifetime of the litter produced. We
highly suggest that you are affiliated with either the AKC or UKC
national breed club and in compliance with its Breeder’s Code of
Ethics. We do not 100% support all that is promoted in the national
clubs, however information on the breed, breeding code of ethics and
health screening are typically solid guidelines to follow. Should you
own a Kaponomana canine and are seriously interested in bettering the
breed, please contact us for personalized guidance. Our interest in
these breeds are serious, therefore, we are open to offering honest,
detailed guidance also to those who have purchased their Groenandael,
Malinois or Schipperke from other breeders who are not available to
assist.
…Competition
puppies are selectively sold with full registration. Full Registration
will provide eligibility to compete in all competitive sports supported
by each registering organization. Fully registered puppies are sold only
to household that have a serious interest and involvement with these
breeds.

Conformation... |
Conformation ("breed ring") is a competition
based on physical structure, movement and character in comparison to the
approved AKC and UKC (in USA) breed standards. Kaponomana believes that
this is an essential title to obtain, adding credibility to a lineage.
At the same time, Kaponomana also believes that not all champions are
qualified to be bred. As well as, there are dogs without such titles
that have significant attributes to contribute to the betterment of
these breed.

Obedience ... |
|
As
part of our initial discussion with all of our new owners, we stress the
importance of obedience training. This training can range from basic
manners to hand signals only… this is a valuable part of your
canine’s life, with or without being competing for titles.
It
is our experience that there are 3 types of obedience to train for.
(There may be more… this is just what we have experienced thus far.)
…AKC
Obedience has 3 main levels: Novice - Companion Dog (CD), Open -
Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) and Utility - Utility Dog (UD). There are
several other titles: Utility Dog Excellent (UDX), Obedience Trail
Champion (OTCH) and National Obedience Champion.
…UKC
Obedience also has 3 main levels: Novice - Companion Dog (U-CD),
Open - Companion Dog Excellent (U-CDX) and Utility - Utility Dog (U-UD).
There are several other titles: Obedience Champion (U-OCH)

Working Sports... |
Kaponomana believes that the working sports,
require a combination of talents, sound mind, healthy body, precision obedience
and demanding agility.
Kaponomana actively support and responsibly train for competition in French
Ring Sport, Mondio Ring.
There are many different requirements and styles, depending on sport,
country and handler. It is our personal experience that when one is
training for the level of performance mandated in these sports, with slight
adaptations, performance in AKC and UKC trials would be superb.
Kaponomana trains with Greater
Rampart Range Ring Sporters club with selected canines.

|
Herding...
|
Kaponomana
participates in Herding
Instinct testing with all our canines. Even our Schipperkes are
tested and have earned the right to tag an HIC to their name. At this
time we have not pursued further training in herding. Several Kaponomana
puppies and a grand puppy are excelling in this area.
|
|
Agility ... |
At
this time, Kaponomana’s participation in agility is through sport
work. The type of work required for French Ring Sport and Mondio Ring is
very different from the agility
organization’s program. Several
Kaponomana puppies have excelled or started training in this area. For
more information, visit the following organizations: USDAA,
AKC Agility,
NADAC, equipment,
