Our pretty Lady...She is queen of our
canines. Always respectful of her human family leaders.
Though give her an inch and she'll take a mile, no hesitation! She is
the best teacher for all the youngsters. It was intriguing to see her
take our first Schipperke under her wing as protector and personal
partner. She was our first foundation female, producing several
accomplished puppies. Her eyes have been
afflicted by pannus shortly following her last litter. (90% of her
offspring are clear) She is from our first litter -
She is our eldest and well respected in our family. She is the dam of
many with sound, solid character. At 15 years and 5 months old - she still
took care of life's chores... until it was difficult for her to stand.
She is the last of the full
O’Ebon Will girls. The solidity in structure and soundness in character
was passed on readily and enjoyed every day. She left us with many
wonderful puppies and grand puppies who have accomplished so much. She
was trained to obtain her CD but never trialed. She had a BOB, several
Reserves and was AKC pointed. She’s been with Laura through most of
life's ups and downs, always by her side, always ready to cuddle, always
a good judge of character – even at 6 months old, at a public
educational exhibition she warned her of a man in the crowd… but most
often ready to jump into the laps of new people she met. Outside of
flipping your elbow for a pat, she loved gathering everyone’s bones (or
rawhides) when they weren’t looking!
Most significantly Kela taught
me about trust, in myself and in others. The most important standard to
understand is the written standard...not the comments made by other
breeders and competitors, not always what is winning... but the true
understanding of what this breed should be in all of it's beauty,
versatility and balance.
Even in her last moments of life - she was
proud, dignified and majestic. She stopped to smell the grass...and at
the curb to check out who had been there before. She walked with us into
the clinic, letting us help where needed, yet wanting to do this on her
own. She is now strong and active as her spirit lives on forever.
